POST UPDATE: I was asked for some suggestions for prelude or offertory solos for lever harp. My apologies for not including them in the original post!
Marcel Grandjany, Pastorale. A classic from the master, and a favorite of mine.
Deborah Henson-Conant, The Nightingale. This never fails to get a good response, and since the edition comes with several versions, it’s great for every harpist.
Kathy Bundock Moore, Elegy. Simple and lovely. No one will notice how easy it is…
Traditional (arr. Kim Robertson), Water is Wide, from Treasures of the Celtic Harp. I love this arrangement. The tune has been used for hymn settings as well, making it a perfect choice for a worship service.
Traditional (arr. Sylvia Woods), Wondrous Love. A haunting modal melody with three variations by Sylvia Woods.
Vivaldi (arr. Barnwell), Largo, from Concerto for Lute in D Major. A thoughtful transcription from one of Vivaldi’s great works.
